Weekend Thread April 16-18
« on: April 16, 2010, 08:00:28 AM »
Howdy all,
Here are a couple of photos taken a few days ago at Oaks Park here in Portland. These were taken with a 1930s Agfa Ansco Shur-Shot and expired Kodak PRN 100 film. Have a great weekend!

all great so far.  Calbisu - really nice pics.

here are a few from today's practice with the 4x5 down at Seasalter beach.  Sadly, I got my timing wrong and the tide was out ... some strange wispyness in the sky - maybe volcanic ash?

This has the smell of another killer thread!

Pdewolff - the first one I love, great colour.

Vicky - the expression 'like a duck to water' springs to mind!

Calbisu - I'm with Vicky, number one is great.

Diane - Great shot, the location is right up my street.

Leon - great as always. The one with the beach huts is my choice.

Very nice thread so far, everyone. Here's one more, taken during a long afternoon of photographing with a friend at Sauvie Island (about 10 miles outside of Portland). The birds are couple of Osprey, guarding their nest of little ones. This was shot with a 1939 4x5 Speed Graphic and a circa 1867 f/8 12-inch Darlot lens. The film was Agfa Ultra 50, loaded into a Calumet 120/220 film holder. The lens was used at f/8, and the shutter speed was 1/350. Not too bad for hand-held and framing with the sports finder. (The image was focused on the ground glass before inserting the film holder...)

This is a Holga with Fuji Kodak, um, colour film. I tried to take pictures of colour subjects as it was colour film (I have mostly put b+w through the Holga).  I do feel sometimes that taking pictures of graffiti is a bit like stealing!

Can't show the results as the film's not been processed - they would be particularly boring anyway - but I felt compelled to go out today and record what is probably a unique event in modern times, at least in the south of England.

Today we had a clear blue sky from horizon to horizon and there wasn't one aircraft vapour trail to spoil it  :)

There had to some good come from that volcano.

thank you Sapata! I really like that Rollei..when I first got it off ebay it was a mess ..had it repaired and now it is one of my favorite cameras! It always amazes me how 50 -60 year old cameras can be so wonderful! But then I only have one "new" camera..wouldn't know what to expect with a new camera of the Rollei quality!

Really liking those pinholes again - dammit that 1st one of Trafalger Sq has a real deep classic feel to it.  Love pinhole London

Miller's 1st Polaroid also rockin' for me

The standard of uploads here in general recently has been superb all round.  So much so I'm scared of adding my Polaroids which have been poorly "scanned" with a digital camera (accidentally left my scanner in Glasgow) and the colours therefore look crap

Thanks tinm@n... I only wish I had braketed this shot, it's a bit overexposured and when correcting on PS the vignettes appears much stronger to my taste.

Tinm@n post those pola's...

I too was especially pleased with the shot. A lot of the PX100 stuff I've seen is 'flat' and I wanted to see if I could get some latitude and contrast. I doubt I will improve on this shot in this respect so I will probably just get my coat now.

Two taken last week.

I'm still trying to get to grips with Rodinal.
These were taken using Tmax 100 at 100.
I used Rodinal nominally at 1:100 stand development for 60 mins.
