Buffalo round up

I was honored and actually scared a bit when I was invited to attend a buffalo roundup recently.

These are just a few shots of the day, and honestly once you get in the field with the bison, it's quite overwhelming to think about taking a photo AND to NOT get on the pointy end of the bison's horns.

They were quite feisty that day as the Buffalo Wrangler was sifting the babies from the mommas.  Not a happy day for either party I might add.
Also, this is done on foot and not on horseback because the buffalo will charge and gore the horses. The bison "tolerate" humans on foot better.   I was only charged once- thus the lack of a lot of film being wasted in the field.

Note- my scanner seems to be adding a weird line on the left of some of the negs, not sure why- but the negs are clean.

Becky, I have an unhealthy fear of large hooved animals! I was chased recently by a group of cows!

As for the lines - I get those occasionally with my hassy negs - they are a lot fainter, but, a pain in the ass to remove in PS - I can't see them on the negs and like you I don't get them on every negative! Irritating!

Probably dust inside the scan head... when I think they were supposed to have fixed this something like 15 years ago...

Maybe if you scan as 48 bit RGB slide, it won't be visible on all channels...

Hi becky - nice work :)  I get that on my scanner too. Very annoying. Were these on the mam6? How you finding the ubersharp lens?

I used to get those lines with my scans.  Epson service fixed it, but I don't know what they did.   In the process, they gave me an extra med. format film holder (so now with 2, I can load an entire roll and quickly swap out for scanning - love that).

I love the 2nd one best, astrobeck!  The 'shape' of bison in profile is just so magnificent!
