Ok,   So good news is Shen hao arrived. Looks great....

How do you close it again?  its...annoying....i dont want to force anything, Im guessing its very simple and the fact that im also very simple means I cant work it out.

releasing a little tension on the lower left/right knobs and gently collapsing doesn't work?  I've only used a shen hoa 4x5 twice but that seems to be my recollection.

take a look at these shots - this should help.  I was referring to the two knobs on the lens board.  Now that I have this visual reminder, the two at the bellows also...I think !

I think you're supposed to loosen the front tilt, bring both standards together in the center, loosen the front nut on the back standard, tilt both horizontally and pancake them together... but I could be wrong.

i think you need to use a hammer. and i'm pretty sure you can't use light taps.

post pictures after you've closed it using the hammer method.

I've had my Tachihara for around 12 months now and I STILL can't close it properly first time. Always takes me about 5 minutes. Irritates the hell out of me.

At least you didn't do like the previous owner of my Graflex did... since the open button is hidden under the leather top, they used a large flat head screwdriver to pry the thing open! Results, the top aluminum trim is missing and the wood is quite damaged around that spot...
