Some crackers here, as always, which slightly tempers the awful news about Fujifilm cutting their output. Bah!
Anyway, for me I was home early on Friday for once and managed to whip out the Land Cam, bang in some expired 125i and take some snaps of some freesias which were on the way out. The light was (to my mind) very "Slater-esque" and I overexposed slightly because I liked what I saw from one of the test shots. I have 7 or 8 which came out really well, but this is probably my fave. Several shots came out really sharp, but I like softness of this one and the weird yellow patch at the top left (expired film working its magic).
I used a circa 10X close-up filter (sounds grand, but it's actually a front lens from my Grandfather's old binoculars), so I had to shoot blind and guess at the focus. Turns out it's 17cm when set as close-in as poss on the camera. I had the Land Cam on a tripod and the flowers in a vase balanced precariously on my kids' play kitchen unit. My son, Joe, was busying himself underneath the tripod during 'the shoot' making tea for me and wobbling the kitchen unit so much that:
- I feared for the vase and also for Joe (it's a very heavy vase!)
- At about 25th/sec exposure time I had to choose my moments with the shutter very carefully
...anyway, I'm pleased to report that the camera, the vase and my son all survived the experience.
