Interesting Camera Nr. 35 - Fujita 66.
« on: December 30, 2009, 10:34:51 AM »
A snappy little buroni (6x6) SLR me thinks. I wonder if there is a wide lens?

Looks like something Sean has... See ya! Skj.

Same format, different maker, the Kalimar Reflex:

Both f3,5 and 80mm, with near identical body construction... Skj.

yeah i've been wanting one of these for awhile. i think there are a few other names, as well. Soligor 66 and Fodor 66 being two. i researched them last summer.

I've got two Kalimars, one working and one that the shutter curtain rods broke. Definitely an eccentric camera, the mirror likes to stick in my working one.

But who still shoots 220 anyways? (you need a special back to use the stuff)

you'd be surprised Francois - and many cameras are 120/220 compliant.  Even the new MF rangefinder from the Fujifilm stables have 120/220 compatibility.

Though I must admit the 24 exposures are much more comfortable than only 12...
It's just that I never had a camera in which the 220 stuff can be used... and I read that many cameras that have a switch (particularly the Russian ones) to go from one to the other will permanently screw up the film spacing if you use them... don't know why but that's what I read years ago.

For UK camera fans, Corfield made a 6x6 in this style too...albeit only briefly. Would love to own one of them from the historical perspective.

yeah i was reading about the corfield 66. guess they didn't make very many so it's somewhat rare. though priced is similar to the others.
