This is the voice of Damion speaking, I have returned........
« on: December 04, 2009, 06:08:37 PM »
...from Cuba.  Ive not yet slept and im getting close to the 36 hour mark, as such im now in second wind territory -although i might opt for a couple o'beers and a quiet night  - and the moment i stop doing stuff i will pass out snoring.

I have managed to scan a quick few Polas, of which I have a lot more..... also dropped off about 10 films to the lab.   All good fun!

Yes Sir, welcome back. I love Cuba. We could learn a lot from those people.

That's for sure. They have a lot of urban agriculture and every fruit and veggie they grow is organic (no synthetic chemical stuff).

i got5 involved in a conversation with one tour guide bloke and some other people, Tour guide was telling  how Cuban babies are exceptionally healthy as after breast mile they are straight onto mashed up bananas and then mashed up veg...no baby food in cuba, everything is fresh, varied diet, good veg = good babies!    on flip side... its a struggle to get nappies....so its messy!

Cheers Skj.   It was called a Coco Taxi and I saw them in Havana,  Varadero,  Cienfuegos, Guanma, and santa clara so im guessing they are all over the island.   Essentially a moped trike (like a tuk-tuk) built to carry 2 passangers.  Great fun.    just after this picture was taken we were overtaken by a large lorry, running on sugar cane deisel -belching out black smoke that sat in front us of for a good mile or two, luckily after the mass of cigars id knocked back, I was able to almost enjoy it.

These are great. I'm either going to Cuba or Costa Rica for my honeymoon. My vote is with Cuba as I've always wanted to go. Did people seem to mind being photographed in Havana?

Just looked through the lot on Flickr. Cracking stuff.
Particularly like the composite polaroid stuff.

Is it safe to take an old (but loved more than any other camera in the world) Leica round the cities there?

Thanks

I would say Book cuba!  Its great, People very friendly, and very safe indeed.   One of the safest places in the world apparently.   It is a big city so the odd bag snatch, gold chain snatch is not unheard of BUT in saying that It is meant to be very safe.

I felt safer there than I would in birmingham!  but thats not saying much
