Weekend 27th-29th November
« on: November 27, 2009, 11:12:15 AM »
A productive week for me so the weekend is starting early.  Shot and/or processed this week.  The Hasselblad has become attached to the end of my arm at the moment.

This week has been much the same as last week - continuing on with my series, plus a little goop with type 664, scanned as RGB color... and a roll off the Diana.

All great.

Andrea, love the first one, very painterly and the second makes me want a Guinness - which can only be a good thing!

I have been enjoying the fruits of others here on filmwasters while I have been lurking but not producing.  Today, at last, I can post a small series made on the new Ektar--about which I learned on this site, thank you--with my Leica and a 24mm lens.

I'm glad you singled out almost the only aspect of the photo that I had no real control over...but of course you're right; it was the light that made me reach for the camera in the first place.   :) ;D

Thank you!

It was a weird night for sure.  Shepherdstown, WV, in a park overlooking the Potomac River.  That's a monument to James Rumsey, who is the actual inventor of the steamboat according to local history.  There was barely a moon -- I checked the phase and it was a sliver of a crescent.  But nevertheless the river and sky were lit up in these bands and above that the stars.  The light on the tree and the edge of the stone wall (upon which I set my camera) had some illumination by a distant streetlamp, but the river and sky were the lightest things in my view -- and that's all relative because it was all very dark.  I still don't quite understand why the sky was like that.  I understand it was a layer of clouds but this is dead rural, I don't know what illuminated the clouds.  The brightest area is the river, and obviously that was the area giving off the most light but being out there it was all just shades of black.

Shot my trusty Neopan 1600 through my LeicaM2/Nokton 40mm, f2, developed normal for 1600, the exposure was about 45 seconds.

Actually from last weekend, but just got around to developing this weekend.

Megan Jean & the KFB.  Kind of americana / roots but they do some things a bit out of the mold, like an absolutely killer cover of I Wanna Be Your Dog.  Megan Jean has a great voice and Byrn gets some very cool sounds out of his bass when he's not providing a solid bottom to everything.

another of the graflex.  Bought a few boxes of 52, exp. 2003, from the same person.  Each box I've used thus far, the film behaved a bit differently...

Thanks for the information, Hookstrapped.  It has been a while since I have tried some night photography.  Your photo makes me think it's time...

I absolutely love these weekend galleries.

I went to White Sands National Park, near Alamogordo New Mexico for the long weekend, and shot a bunch of pinhole stuff.
This one was made just before a snow and rainstorm rolled in.  Da Vinci pinhole camera made by Randy at Holgamods.
Fuji instant film
2 seconds
The great thing about a pinhole camera in a very gritty and in this case wet environment is you don't need to worry about scratching the lens.   :)
