From MOzambique
« on: November 25, 2009, 12:54:59 AM »
Hello there! (Hope I am not posting for second time the same thing...)

I wanted to share with the group some shots I made in Mozambique. I went there to work as an observer for the elections. I brought with me the Canon A1 and a canon 50mm f 1.4 lens. I was a bit nervous as it was the first time I travelled with analogic camera (yes I admit I used to shoot digital), but at the end happy with the results.

The colour shot is especially good, though they are all splendid!   :)

Yes I particularly like the colour shot too, but they're all good.

Yes, the color shot is somehow more appealing, could be the subtle unfocus or the orangish tone, that we cannot see their faces... The place was the beach, with low tide, the villagers (mostly women) were collecting crabs and others, so I walked up to them. I spoke with them (they speak portuguese) and took some shots, suddenly I saw these girls and shot without much preparation (that explains the subtle blur). Later on I realized that instead of shooting in black and white, as I thought I was shooting, I was shooting in Color; but I was using an orange filter for the sky, and that explains the orangish tones : ))

I also prefer the colour one. The blur, the clothes and the orange filter give it the feel of a print from the 70s that has faded over the years.

The colour picture definitely made my stomach go flipperty-flop - it's a beauty.

I rarely prefer B&W over colour, but here i prefer the B&Ws. Probably because of the persons looking at you (camera)
I like the set.
