Kodak Brownie Cresta
« on: July 24, 2009, 07:13:54 PM »
I think many of us who have OCD (obsessive camera disorder) wind up having things we haven't tested and have forgotten that we even have them. Anyway while awaiting a "copy" of a Hawkeye with plastic film advance knob which MIGHT readily take 120 film since my piece with the metal knob just won't, I turned up a Cresta that I receceived who remembers when. Got it because it's a true 2-1/4. Will test within the next 48 hours. Ergo, anyone pass along any experience with the piece? In the meantime, took a roll of Ilford out of the fridge to let it warm up.

I prefer the term "Camera Acquisition Disorder"...

I've got all three models of the Crestas. The Cresta 1 does a pretty nice image with just a bit of blur. Some samples:

Kevin, Can you give me another way to get to the images, since  I'm having no luck with the link. I have, however, brought up your site without any trouble. Thanks.

Another camera test! Goody goody good  ;D

Can't wait to see the results.
I went through a period of camera shopping withdrawal but am now succumbing to yet more camera buying. Last one was an Instax 100 which I put in the articles section.

Film is the vinyl record of photography.

If you go to Archives you can get to them via the kodak cresta tag.

Thanks, Kevin. I very much like your results and have already loaded my Cresta with some Ilford Delta 100.

I have two crestas, one of them I made a pinhole camera because I though the pictures were "too good"  for what I was looking.

Here are some examples...

Yes, I see what you mean about the Cresta results. Take a look at Kevin's and you'll get a very different picture (no pun intended).

Looked at a number of your other things. Very nice.

Mine's also a I. I'm set to shoot it with b/w film. Let's see what happens.

The II and III models of the Cresta do produce cleaner images than the I.

Is true...
I was impressed with the results, better than many medium format cameras available on the market for much much less (Lubitel for example...)
