Topic: Who Needs HRD?

I mean, I love my digicam like I love my electric toothbrush - nice, well designed, user of electrickery. But, for dynamic range photographs, I prefer the no filter, no plugin, no post-camera tweaking route. Not because of any great philosophical film is better than digital twaddle, but simply because it is easier, just as fast, and the results look more natural.

Particularly over those make your eyes bleed HRD aberrations.







These are from my favorite color film - FujiPro400 (PN400N). A C41 reversal, straight to CD unbalanced, unsharpened, and uncropped, from the lab next to my work at lunchtime in 45 minutes. FujiPro400 as at least a four stop latitude (+/- 2 stops) if you're technically minded.

The first two from Bessa R3a 21mm, the third from my Canonet QL17. See ya! Skj.

Same thing here... could have been Her Royal Duchess (if there is such a thing)...

HDR is just a way to compensate for the limited range digital sensors have. But now they're coming out with cameras with Extended range and auto HDR feature... more Quake like pictures are bound to flood the net sooner or later.
