Weekend Thread - 18-19 July
« on: July 17, 2009, 07:02:24 PM »
Again a little early - especially as this was made yesterday.

Lochan Dun Saoraich - slightly loop sided scan me thinks.

Here are three shots of the Broadway Bridge here in Portland, taken yesterday during lunch with my Rolleicord IIb; Zeiss Triotar 75mm 3.5 lens; Fuji NPS 160 converted to Quadtones in Photoshop CS2. Have a great weekend, everyone! :D

Thanks, Diane :D Here are two more photos of the Broadway Bridge taken this afternoon...color this time, and the gear used was a mid-1950s Exakta VX 35 mm SLR and an aus Jena [East German Zeiss] 50mm 2.0 Pancolar lens. The film is Fuji Superia 400.

Peter R, the first two caravan shots are stunning. Did you develop these yourself? What film?

Hi Reuben,

Yes. XP2 developed in Paterson Aculux. I know XP2 is supposed to be developed in C41 - but it works.

Well I'm glad the Petri is working but isn't he a bit young to be confusing him with optical illusions?

does the xp2 give the fabled dense negs?

Presumably 400cn would give similar results?

I wouldn't say they're particularly dense (I gave them a quadratic equation to work out - no problem  :) ). The results I get are very similar in density to what I get if I have them processed in C41 and, although they do have a wide latitude and can be quite dense and still have detail in them, I generally rate it at ISO200 and the negs look comparable to other films.

I would have thought so but I've never used it.

Beck that first images is wonderful; your usual mix of unsettling and serene at the same time, lovely lumionous tones too. Yah!

Peter R: loved that first caravan shot...it wouldn't have worked without the sky, but ti's come out really well.

Andrea: That vase is sublime. Took me a few seconds to work it out, but when I did it really hit me. Superb.

Jeez Beck. These here is pretty damn neat. Amazing where you get the continual ideas from. Kinda bummed to comment on my feeble-copy-Moomin-color-work efforts myself...

More about the place than the photograph here - five hours out of Tokyo a place left largely untouched for a many years. Even the original 1920s turbine house has been kept. Thanks all as always. Skj.
