Latest Podcast Now Online (#10 for March 2009)
« on: March 18, 2009, 12:36:01 AM »
Leon & I broke ranks with the rest of the podcast crew and knocked off a quickie 45 minute show where the 2 of us discuss the recent Arena Seminar featuring the seriously heavyweight guest speaker line-up of Martin Parr, Tom Stoddart, Ken Keen and Andrew Nadolski.

http://filmwasters.com/podcast/archives/25

I've tested the download link and the 'on page' player and both worked. I've also included and alt download location if anyone has problems in that regard. Hopefully that's all the bases covered. As usual, please spread the word.

BTW, I meant to say please let me know via the forum if you have any download issues. The podcast is available via iTunes and Zencast so feel free to subscribe that way too.

Really enjoyed this one. I always do, but if you talk about Tom Stoddart I'm all ears.

I am a little angry though... all this talk of worthy work makes my job about as un-worthy as is possible. He wants to tell everyone about the world's injustices - I convince people to by things they never really needed!  :-\

Oh great, now i'm wondering why I take photos at all. Why I oughta!

Seriously though, great podcast. It got by brain a-thinkin'.

just finished listening to it - downloaded and subscribed to it with iTunes.  Really good throughout and, being a sucker for photojournalistic things, i particularly enjoyed the bit about Tom Stoddart. Having looked at his website recently and seen the photo of the Sarajevo woman holding the child made me watch again the movie "Welcome to Sarajevo".
Good podcast.

Thanks guys, I listened on the drive home and it made the M25 seem much more bearable. (which is some achievement!)

I was really pleased to hear Tom Stoddart is a nice guy, I've admired his work for a long time and it would have been awful if Leon had come back and said he had a huge ego. It's made me want to get along to the lectures next year.

thanks again

I appreciate the feedback; thanks. We were a bit concerned that it might all have been a bit dry and low-key this time round, but decided to capitalize on the fact that we were both free and actually had something specific to discuss. We tried to keep it to 30 minutes, but overran by 50%!! Pros that we are.
 ;) ;) ;)

Didn't need any more pace. It was chilled out and meandered through some really interesting subjects. Tip top I'd say.

I downloaded from the link on the podcast page and only got 34 mins of it - so still problems ....

It seems to be on iTunes now, I'm just downloading it. You might have to hit the "Refresh" button before you see it in the listing.

I downloaded it via a Zencast feed reader and had no issues. I also downloaded it directly from the webpage after I'd finished putting it together the other night. Am gutted that you had issues downloading, Leon.

Delightful discussion, chaps. I listened while addressing my filmwasters postcards. Took a look at Andrew Nadolski's work afterwards, and it inspired me to think about taking a break from the holga and dusting off my Mamiya 6 for some super-sharp, colourful landscape picts next weekend.

I loved it! all the way round..I actually have a satellite hook up..(nothing else available where I live)..and I must say this worked terrifically even with this nuisance type of hook up! And I loved just listening to the voices..I am quite partial to the sound of Great Britain in your voices..makes me miss all my friends across the pond.!!! :) Keep up the great work..I will always be listening...

So that's official then, Leon and I are "the sound of Great Britain"...I wish someone had said that back when I was trying to make playing in bands pay the rent.

 :D ;D

Thanks, Diane. Glad you liked it.

I enjoyed this podcast, especially the first part about Ken Keen. I immediately thought of the blind photographer Bob Black http://www.lightstalkers.org/bobblack. (As for his developing negs in paper developer, I'm guessing Dektol.)

I liked it because I really wanted to go* to at least see Ken Keen's work and hear more about him so thanks for being the filmwasters ambassador, Leon ;) Actually,  I find Ken Keen's and John Dugdale's background stories very soothing and I don't feel scared to start losing my eyesight. I'd just have to buy a bigger camera ;)

Really enjoyed the Radio wastersGB podcast. Lovely work by Ken Keen and Tom Stoddart really moved me. So much so I withdrew my images from the island 'art' show!

That was really great, thank you both.

Loved Nadolski's work, I have mixed feelings about alot of landscape pictures (probably seen too much the same on Flickr) but his were just gorgeous.
And Stoddart, wow, what an unselfish man...lots to think about.

I'm now booking myself in for Arena's seminar in B'mth march 2010!!
Slight trepidation as I don't know anyone going (though I know Leon will be there and I'll recognise his voice now :).
Not sure why not but I've never been to a talk/presentation by a photographer before and I'm really looking forward to it... :)

Vicky, I'm really glad you liked the podcast. It was a bit low key because we could only get the two of us together in time to record it and still keep it topical (ironic since you're listening to it some 6 months later).

We've been quiet on the podcast front over the summer - too many other activities - but we have 2 or 3 planned for the next few weeks so hopefully there will be some new additions posted soon.
