Kenna Exhibition attempt #3 17.01.09
« on: January 07, 2009, 04:46:55 PM »
ok - I set off at 11 am this morning.  Got to the train station with 10 minutes to spare  - the train time arrived, no train.  I waited 20 minutes - still no train and the ominous sign of workers in hi-vis jackets down the line.  Must have been a problem with the tracks but as the station has no staff or announcement speakers I had no idea what was going on .... so I got on a bus to the mainline station in Canterbury (a different line that will definitely be working) ... the bus broke down on the way - by the time the replacement bus arrived and got us to the city,  it was gone 3 o'clock meaning I wouldnt get to the gallery until t least 4:30 - only an hour or so before it closes.  Grrrr.  So I did some shopping in the City and came home again.  Double Grrr

Usual occurrences when using English rural public transport.

So - I've managed to get time off for good behaviour on Saturday 17th Jan, and I WILL be at the Hacklebury gallery about 11 o'clock if anyone cares to join me.

So sorry to hear about your transport troubles. :(

Just got back to London yesterday and stories like these always make me feel duly welcomed back to the UK. ;)

I can always pop by and say hello if I am in the area on the 17th, Leon. I actually walked past the Hackelbury just past 5pm yesterday evening and it was definitely open... maybe just closing, but their outer door was still open and all the lights were still blazing. So the gallery has definitely re-opened for 2009. :)

good excuse to also visit the new premises of photographer gallery... and drool at the window of a 2nd hand camera shop..

If I'm about I'll make it along, Leon. Chances are 50/50. Will confirm nearer the time.

Salvo, I really like your images on Flickr. Lovely stuff. Welcome to Filmwasters.

Hi Salvo, it turns out that I'm unable to attend as I will be down in Kent visiting my parents.I'm pretty sure that Leon is still planning to visit though as he's a Kenna fanatic and he's already tried twice.

I'm definitely still going. Should be there about 11am. Look forward to seeing anyone who can make it. Sorry for the late reply salvo, I've only just got back from a week away up North.

Are you sure? After the last A-Z misreading debacle...?  :P

I went to the exhibition yesterday. It was well worth the wait. And I even handed over 50 smackers for the book, too.

I finally made it to the exhibition. Well worth the trip. And if anyone else manages to see it before it finishes, it' worth asking to see the unframed prints too. There must be about 50 more to see many of which are equally as strong as the hanging exhibition.  And it was great to meet up with Salvo.
