Karl Ferris
« on: June 07, 2008, 07:06:50 AM »
Strolling through the FlickrCentral group, someone made a post about the fisheye lens...and I made comment that photographer Karl Ferris was more than likely the first person to use a fisheye on his Nikon during the 1960's.....remembering the Are You Experienced album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. So I looked around and found this really neat docu on Karl explaining that whole, well, experience. Along with his use of infrared film. Neat stuff...

You can watch it here:

I'm glad. I get a really good feeling watching this as I have several times now. The short film he did with Donovan must be extraordinary....the bits with the cave is so damn great. I would love to experiment with movie film...super 8, and whatnot....film that is still made today.

To think Karl is only asking a measly $2500 for the one original slide print...wow.
