photographica
« on: April 13, 2008, 10:59:05 AM »
a few years ago, Ed and I went to this collectors fair with Ed's brother in law and met Jim Green along the way.  anyone up for going this year?  it's right by victoria station so nice and easy to get to. It's a bit of a nerds day out, but it's worth it if only as a focal point to catch up with other Filmwasters ....

Sadly it's a tad too far for me :)

But if it was closer to home, I definitely would go! (I'm a sucker for this type of show)

Definately going. The Camera Fair I normally go to this past Sunday was severally lacking in tripods and everyone mentioned they were going to Photographica. I suspect they're saving up their stock to annoy me...  >:( First time I walked away from any camera fair having only spent ?3 total with everything being easily hideable in one hand. Cute portrait lenses for box brownies for 50p each and an old cable release for my 4x5 with its cable release screw in an awkward area...

I know that even here, the stuff isn't always up to par...
The worse I've seen was coming back with just a polarizer...
The best was probably when I got a set of extension tubes for cheap.

We have 2 shows a year in Montreal... the last one was during the snowstorm of the century!

Has anybody ever been really "suckered" at one of these shows?

I'm definitely going and so is Damion. Didn't go last year, but went to the 2 previous ones. It's pretty good fun and well worth the trip.

err - Ed Damion and I wont be going now, a bit of last minute panic on my behalf (have end of year exams starting monday), shortage of cash on Damion's, and Ed forgetting he was actually in his holiday cottage in Cornwall this weekend (Lucky Git).  maybe next year?
