my weekend out...
« on: December 16, 2007, 05:00:54 AM »
took a short road trip with a friend out to the desert to find a place called castle hot springs, a 100+ year old hotel in the middle of the mountains that requires driving a river bed for awhile to get to. well, get out there and you can't get anywhere near it, all fenced off (and a caretaker, i guess) . bummed, we continued driving, and about 1 mile farther we came upon an abandoned homestead and what looked like an old firehouse and some other stuff. this is about 20 miles from any paved road. neat place. a few shots with the 195 and 665. the white door was a "cold room." i still have a couple rolls of 120 to develop. was actually kind of a creepy place. was about 48 degrees out.

Very cool, and yes a bit creepy.

Was coming your way in a week, but going to Zion instead.

I like that second one. Feels cold. How did you handle and clear your 665? Skj.

oh, and zion is great! was last there in 2006. i love camping in utah. don't know which way you are driving, but bryce and capitol reef are good visits, too. cedar breaks is in that area, as well. you can make a loop from zion to bryce, climp up to about 11,000 feet at cedar breaks, and then back down to the west and down into zion. have fun!

thanks, Zion is amazing.
I'm going to tackle Angel's Landing this trip, so no big cameras, only the F2, since the trail is only a step's width in places.

Still plan on coming to Phoenix early next year tho.  Maybe we can hook up and go shoot.

Big vote for Angel's Landing... one of the best short day hikes I've ever tackled. Quite thrilling...
