Two 500-foot-high towers demolished—a public celebration.

On Saturday, 27 April, the long and troubled history of the cooling towers for a proposed coal-fired electricity generating plant came to a dramatic end. The towers, since they were completed, six years ago, have been an emblematic eye-sore and the source of much frustration for the Fall River, Massachusetts populace.
The Providence Journal gave as good an account as any:

I stationed myself across the Taunton River, in Kennedy Park, Fall River, to watch and to enjoy the music made by the Extraordinary Rendition Band. When the towers fell, the band chanted, “No more coal”.
