How is it possible that June is this weekend??

Have a fine weekend everyone. Last weekend I was reminded of the value of packing one gallon freezer bags in case of a downpour. After this shot the heavens opened and we were a half hour hike from the car. Soaked to the bone!

The first bales of summer, with Pen-y-Fan in the background.
Pen-y-Fan is the second highest peak in Wales. It makes no special claim to heightness, but it does look cool.

Half a year already? I want a refund.

I have been trying to practice more portraits, so I took these last weekend:

First is Ilford HP5+ overexposed one stop, developed in Ilfotec DDX 1:4 for 9 minutes. Bronica SQ-Ai with the 80mm 2.8

Untitled
by Miguel Campano, on Flickr

Second is Fuji Pro 400H with the 150mm 3.5. Developed at a local lab and scanned with their Fuji Frontier. This is the first roll of film I've paid to have scanned.

GAS is kicking in, and a few changes to my current gear are imminent.

Love that first portrait, Miguel. The light coming from that fence is magical.

Going with Kai-san’s geometric shapes idea, together with Miguel’s light-through-the-fence look, here are two taken at the Matthews Arena in Boston, Massachusetts—once the home of the Boston Bruins, now Northeastern University’s hockey and basketball venue.

First tries with the macro bellows + Exa.

The vignetting is quite strong, but sort of neat. I need a lot more light though.

Floppy: love the beta.
You're lucky that they are lazy fish. I never got great results with other types as they are quite speedy.

Becky: Love the cacti (as always)

Fantastic B&W portrait, Miguel. Absolutely lovely. And your first cactus also caught my eye, Becky; wonderful!

Lots of great stuff this weekend!  These were both shot with a Leica IIIf using a Leitz Summaron lens and an orange filter.  The film is Tri-X developed in Rodinal 1:50.

Bryan, may I entice you with a nice ocean front property?
It's in very close proximity to the water. Overlooking the harbor, this one of a kind tiny house features no commodities but is extremely economical. No electricity bill. Easy parking.  The previous owner has a disclaimer for a damp basement  ;D
Barnacles are extra...

Miguel, I love those portraits. Are they friends of yours or just people on the street?

I was snooping in greenhouses this week:

I could also fish right off my porch.  On the down side it’s only accessible at low tide.

I finally got a good 6x9 camera, a Mamiya Press Universal with a 127mm f4.7 lens and a grounds glass focusing screen. I just got the roll film back today, replaced the foam seals and took a quick outing to the hills.

Souped in Rodinal 1:50 for 20 minutes on Ilford Delta 400.

Very impressed with it so far, can't wait to do some more work with it

Congrats on your Universal Press David! I've got the Polaroid version, the 600SE. You'll have access to a few more lenses than I have, but these cameras share all the wonderful accessories that are still available. I think you'll enjoy it.

I love that muffler sculpture, Bryan! There's a local singer-songwriter here who goes by "Radiator King" ... I've always wanted to find a plethora of radiators, arrange them like a throne, and have him sit on it as The Radiator King. And recently a friend of mine posted pictures of a junkyard in Kingston NY that has just that! But now Mr. Radiator King himself is complaining that he has no money for a photoshoot :( He should just raise taxes on heat, should work well in this weather ;D

Anyways, speaking of music, here's my contribution. Taken in a super dark club on Tri-X at 1600. The sax player was standing on the bar :)

Thank you Kai, I have always wanted a 600SE since high school but I wanted more options and finally got the Press. I now have a C2, C3, RB67 Pro-s and now the Universal.

I now need the sheet film adapter J for all of them and in the future make some tiny wet plate photos, or direct positive prints.

Now, time to run some Portra and wait till next weekend.

Actually, that's a really good idea ... would only involve shooting in his kitchen and not a trip to Kingston  ;D
