is DNP Konica?
« on: November 30, 2007, 05:53:28 PM »
i've noticed this film at one of the shops i buy film at. it looks exactly like konica centuria film, but it's even cheaper than that film is usually sold for. has konica sold off their film production? dnp has a website here. but there's no mention of konica on their website and the film itself doesn't say "konica minolta".  if their price list is right - it's selling for quite a bit cheaper here. i originally bought some rolls for around a buck u.s. but now it's been raised to just a little over a buck a roll. anyone know the scoop on this?

Could very well be.
I think we can still find Konica film in drugstores...
But since they sold the entire photo part to Sony, it isn't possible that the coating has been sold too!

The US National trade databank might have some inco on it.

Film is the vinyl record of photography.

this whole "who is coating for who" question is becoming increasingly complex with plentiful myths surrounding it ... even different departments of the same company will tell you opposing stories.  It's not helped by so many companies repackaging.branding old (in date) stock as new products.

I suspect we'll probably never know the full story.
