I'm in London!
« on: September 06, 2018, 01:54:52 AM »
Ok, I lied, I'm not in London just quite yet. But I will be there on Thursday morning to play a show Friday night at Dingwalls in Camden. But more importantly, I'd like to waste some film in Brighton on Saturday the 8th if anyone would like to accompany me. Also, I am open to any other activities around the greater London area between the 8th & the 9th (rehearsals on the 6th, gig on the 7th, leaving on the 9th). Would love to see you or get your reccos! (Also, where's the cheapest place to buy film in London?)

So I was wandering around Camden Market this morning before the gig, and there are 2 or 3 camera shops there! Overpriced, of course, but one of the vendors was nice enough to recommend London Camera Exchange and Aperture as local camera shops. May try to hit those tomorrow, or early Sunday, or not ;D

LCE is a nationwide chain. Tend to be OK but not big into film stuff.

Aperture is definitely worth checking out. Not sure of their film prices though.

You could also try Mr Cad (12 Upper Tachbrook Street, SW1V 1SH). They stock Fomapan and some of the less common stuff.

Wish I could join you in Brighton.

Had a bit of a scare today when I pulled my Canonet out of my bag and discovered it had a stuck shutter :o But fortunately I was able to fix it with the old "keep pressing it until it unsticks itself" trick ;)
