tales from the crooked house
« on: November 13, 2007, 01:42:17 PM »
at last I've got around to having my Agfa Precisa film developed, recommended by Ed I think (a while back). Not sure I was using the right film under the circumstances (low incandescent lighting!). Anyway a few came out that I was pleased with.

er...thanks. I take the compliment! The photos were taken at a great place on the Isle of Wight (UK) called Blackgang Chine. I went with my kids in the summer, having been there myself as a boy. A really great place with a very individual and creative approach to being a theme park

Scary. I feel like a voyeur. I love the choice of film, the lighting really makes it.

That second picture is a winner. Yeah, it was me who recommended the Precisa because it was on sale at a ridiculously low price. My fave x-pro film is/was Agfa's RXII (R.I.P. sniff). Not sure I'd have used either in this light, but it does add a certain seedy edge to the already disturbing pictures.

Reminds me of the time I went to the science museum where they had a crooked room... I kept wondering who was their carpenter :) You don't really want to hire him ;)

Does have a chilling effect...

The bottom picture is really creepy. Is that a wax model?

Plus, that oversized clock is freaking me out for some reason.

yup, wax models. I might have a roll of black and white of the same scenes waiting to be developed but Precisa was in the camera and I had to shoot fast to keep up with the kids.  It was a very voyeuristic set up and very dark. I was shooting at very slow speeds while propping myself on wonky floors and walls.

I agree with Janet on  feeling like a voyeur.  The lighting really adds to the weirdness of the scenes.
