Now that is what I call a good collab.
A bit disappointed with mine but I did the best with what I had...

I liked yours a lot....red vinyl is never a bad thing.

Once you work out what's going on in Sandeha's photo, it is a very impressive piece.

Thanks for putting this together Ed, nice looking kids despite having their faces cut in half.  I'm really drawn to the two road shots by Aksel and Becky, nice job!  It's always interesting to see how everyone interprets these collaborations.

I must admit the red vinyl got me scratching my head a bit at first since it wouldn't come out red enough for my taste. I ended up making an aluminum slip mat for it in order to get that color.

BTW, if you're wondering, the record is Diminished Responsability by the U.K. Subs  ;D

Thanks everyone for sharing your work, really enjoyable to see the variety up there!

Shaun brought me to Pripyat. Don´t know why but those wheels have a way to bring out some sort of melancholic feeling in me.
Bryan, your abstract work is so nice, thought provoking. It would really suit being printed big and rough, stuck on the wall.
Astrobeck, you triggered my lust for America again, driving for days and days, preferably in a unloved and tiered late 70´s Mercedes w116 S, listening to cassettes bought at a random garage sale.

Francois, that is so weird. I almost asked whether that was Diminished Responsibility. The first time I saw the photo I immediately thought, "Hmm, is that Diminished Responsibility? How many other red vinyl albums are there on GEM?". My copy of that album is red vinyl too. I was going to mention it, but lacked the courage of my convictions so didn't.

I have a few punk records on colored vinyl.... Another little known side of me  :)
You know Ed, there was no harm possible from asking.,. I strangely ain't surprised you recognized it, punk connoisseurs are not all that common around here :)

It surprising how long colored vinyl has been around but I have heard that some of it doesn’t last as long as black.  I have several including the Beatles 1962-1966 in red vinyl and a Black Sabbath album that’s clear.  I bought my wife a Shaun Cassidy picture disc, she loved it.  This is a good article on the history of colored records, they started doing it in 1908.

I've heard that the colored stuff doesn't sound as good as the black ones... but as far as I'm concerned, I don't think anyone with a 1000$ sound system would hear the difference.

I have in the garden shed a Redordio recordable record and it was made from a thin red coating on a metal plate... I just keep it as an oddity :)

Lots of great shots, kind of sad now that I didn't get my arse in gear early enough to contribute.
Particularly like Astrobeck's wide open space, Jonas' neon sign, and Mark's unusual look at the Angel of the North.

Seem to remember that coloured vinyl and especially 'picture discs' wore out more quickly than regular records.
