My home town on one roll of Neopan 400
« on: September 10, 2017, 09:17:31 PM »
Strictly speaking it's not quite my home town since I grew up in the countryside 13 km outside it. But this is where I went to school, and this is where you would go for shopping, cinema or other amusements. When I left the town of Brønnøysund in 1972 it had 2000 inhabitants, now it has 5000. On a grey Sunday morning in late August I shot this roll of Neopan 400 with a Contax N1 and a Zeiss Planar 85mm f2.0 and later developed the film in Xtol. The good citizens of this town might not approve of the motifs I have chosen, but I do not find the new shopping mall or the flashy new buildings in steel and glass very interesting. The photos are presented here in the same sequence as they were shot, and at the end you will see that I returned to the starting point. This roll was shot in less than one hour, so it was quite efficient filmwasting.

A very personal view, very different from the usual postcards. Reminds me of my first journey to Norway many years ago. That's how the small towns looked like alongside the E6 to the North Cape. Thanks for the memory.

Thank you for sharing !! I think it's a very interesting project ... more in the way it was executed !!!
"I do not find the new shopping mall or the flashy new buildings in steel and glass very interesting" Again, as Reinhold said, it's your personal view: memories + fresh feelings ... ummm, best ingredients for a photographic recipe.

Thanks again!
Cheers

Indeed, thanks for sharing. It's nice to see these glimpses of things that are off the main paths. The shots document your individual view which I appreciate.
