As someone born in the UK in 1961, the thing that sticks with me most about the 70's is the music and the fact that I got my first SLR camera in '74, having used a Polaroid "Swinger" for a while and, on very rare occasions, been allowed to take a photo with my dad's Rollei (under his very close supervision).
The other great thing about the 70's, for me, was the emergence of heavy metal, hard rock and "prog". I managed to avoid virtually all Disco. When Punk arrived in '76, it never really interested me other than for its energy and the sight of some of the bands and fans.
