Topic: Meeting the baby - found film

There was a roll of Kodacolor left in the Argus Super 75 I just bought from the auction site. It was rolled backward in the camera, so probably had been taken out and reloaded at some point. This of course causes havoc since the trailing edge of the film is not taped down and often goes its own way inside the camera. So there was a fold in the film and there were only two images with enough contrast left to scan. I developed in Rodinal 1:50 for 15min and fixed in Ilford Rapid Fixer for 5min.

It looks like great grandparents meeting the baby. The style of the young woman’s dress and hair could put it in the late 70’s to mid-80’s, but that is about all there is to be gleaned about the story behind the photos. Hard to believe that little guy could be in his 30's or 40's now.

Found film is always fun and you scored!   
Even at only two salvageable exposures this is really great.
You can recognized them as proud of the newborn!

I just wish there was a site that you could re-connect the photos and family with.  I have "adopted" a few people on found pix in my findings...

Great find James.  I've had good luck semi-stand developing Kodacolor with 1-100 Rodinal.  The results do depend quite a lot on how old the photos are and how they were stored over the years but I've had some that look like they are from the 1960's turn out pretty good. 

It's fun to scan the photos for clues of when it was taken but like you said, it looks like the young ladies fashion is the best clue for these.  I would also add the baby carrier may be a good clue.  It looks like it could be an early car seat which would also put it in the 1970's

Excellent stuff James.  It's a wonderful sense of discovery when you find stuff like this isn't it?  I had never gotten any results developing color film in Rodinal until last December when I found a roll of 127 Kodacolor-X in an *bay purchased camera.  I stand developed in 1:100 and got some very dark negs but they scanned sort of OK.

Terry that's a nice "Easter Egg" you got there in your camera. Hard to put a date on that one. Kodacolor X was from 1963 - 1974. The boys have long hair, so probably the latter half of that decade.

Another look at the backing paper that was on the film and it is Kodacolor II which was made in 620 from 1973 to around 1980. That jives with what we thought. There is a name taped inside the finder hood. I think it says Candy Willems. Google couldn't find her and that is about all the iStalking I am willing to do. It would be nice to have someone to give the photos to.

The young mother's sweater seems to have a latter-day Peter Max kind of design to it, and wasn't big hair an 80s thing?  And the house looks very southwestern--you don't frame your roof with 2x4s in places where it snows a lot...

It probably dates back to the late 70's or the early 80's. I was examining the baby carry and it looks like it uses nylon webbing and plastic latches, two things that didn't exist when I was a baby in the early 70's.
The hairdo is not what I call big hair... and yes, it is probably from some southern state.
