Maripol: New Wave Polaroid Photographer
« on: December 21, 2015, 10:31:39 PM »
I just stumbled on this while going through a magazine at the store and I think Hookstraped will enjoy.
She's Maripol, a French photographer who moved to NYC in the early 80's and specializes in Polaroid work (SX-70).
She got pictures of all the greats of the era like Warhol, Madonna, Grace Jones, Haring, Basquiat, Debbie Harry... and also of some lesser known people.
Lets just say a lot of her work is NSFW...

Here's the google search http://www.google.ca/search?q=maripol+polaroids&newwindow=1&safe=off
and her decidedly very 90's website
http://www.maripolitan.com/polarama.html

Yeah, talk about it... I heard rumors that they plan on getting rid of Flickr. They say it has zero value in their portfolio... It probably doesn't bring any revenue.

Funny you mention that. Though it, and TrekEarth, provided a great concept, I have yet to see anyone really monetize the format. Pity! Fickle I guess wasted too much time on tweaking stuff that wasn't broken to start. Always costly that.

Regardless, love the Maripol page! Sooo neat for Polaroids. Sweet!
