Postcard Exchange Image Thread
« on: October 04, 2015, 12:54:20 AM »
I thought I would start a thread for the Postcard Exchange images since not everyone takes part and some exchangers are only on one of the two lists. It has been over 3 weeks since I sent mine out, so I imagine that everyone has received mine. As Shaun suggested in the sticky thread, people should wait until they are reasonably sure that their cards have all arrived so as not to spoil any surprises (since that is most of the fun).

Anyway, everyone in the exchange should have received one of these sunflowers from me (I requested to be on both lists).

I just mailed mine on Saturday, so I'll give it until next week to make sure they get over the ocean, but then I'll add my four images.

Mine have had about two weeks to get where they're supposed to be going, so I'll add my photos. I ended up with four different images (from four different cameras and lenses), for no reason other than that it was easier than being more decisive in the selection process.

and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

I got the first one under the bridge. Really nice photo. These are all being displayed on a board in a high traffic area of the house, so I walk by and look at them several times a day. Fabulous art from everyone!

I'm pretty sure that my cards have all arrived by now.  I am enjoying daily surprises as the other cards trickle in from points afar.  I've commandeered wall space in my studio for all the fine offerings.

Here is the image I sent out, along with other views of the same subject, previously posted here on Filmwasters.

Thanks to all for the great work.

Lovely work, people.

We just got back from our whistle-stop taster of Andalucia and I'm getting my first "fix" of Filmwastering in a week.  I've received 10 cards to-date, including James' first (as above) and 02Pilot's bridge.  I'll have a closer look at the remainder tomorrow when I'm not so knackered.  Anyway, mine were sent a while back and should have been received by now.  Therefore, here's the shot I had made into postcards.  It was taken a week or two before our holiday when Lara and I visited Oxford to meet up with Verian.

Fuji GA645zi using Portra 400, processed in LRCC and converted to mono in Silver Efex Pro2.

Hope you like it:

My second batch has made it across the ocean, so I think it's reasonably safe to post my images now.

I chose four pictures from my last vacation to Maine, because postcards tend to be things you send from vacation, right? :) Here are the four:

Bridge by limrodrigues, on Flickr

(This one is ever-so-slightly different from the one I sent. There's less room above the birds and they are looking in different directions. But I don't have that other one on Flickr and I'm not at my computer where my pictures are stored.)

I am still amazed by the quality and diversity of the cards I got from everyone.
Think my cards made it also over the pond now. Here's the 2 images I sent, both taken with the Harman Titan 4x5 pinhole this summer holidays.

See?? I just KNEW this thread would be awesome! The only problem I am having is that now I wish I had all the cards everyone sent and not just the one I got! Well, I got reprints from Little Moo because the first set peeled (but I had already sent them), so if anyone wants any of the cards I posted here, PM me and I'll get them in the mail.

It's at least a couple of weeks since I posted off a couple of "extras", so I hope they've arrived by now.
I'd like to say a big thank-you to all for the excellent imagery that landed on my doormat, it was a lot of fun and I'll certainly look forward to next years edition..!

So, here's a little taster of the postcards I sent out... as you can see, I suffer from crippling indecisiveness, and if choosing what images to use wasn't hard enough, I then had to decide who got what... ???

From the top and L to R...
Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate, Kent - Olympus XA on Fomapan 400.
Danza de los Voladores at Glastonbury Festival 2015 - Olympus OM4 on Delta 3200.
"Flagtopia" at Glastonbury Festival 2015 - Olympus OM4 on Fomapan 400.
Beachy Head Lighthouse - Olympus OM4 on Tri-X 400.
"Selfie" - Turner Contemporary Gallery - Olympus XA on Fomapan 400.
RAF Red Arrows - Nikon F301 on Konica colour 100 (b&w conversion).

All printed on Hahnemuhle photorag cards.
