Is 120 backing paper recyclable?

Not sure if that black coating will gunk up the recycling machines. Also, are the plastic spools recyclable?

Yes, here are the steps you need to follow.

1. Buy a bulk roll of 70mm film (emulsion choice is up to you)
2. Make a slitter with a razor blade and some cardboard.
3. Cut the film down to 120 size
4. Roll it on to old spools with old backing paper.

Bingo! Recycling finished.
