I don't think so.
Kodak has long been a strong supporter of Hollywood producers, even in the famous days of the film trust (I'm reading a big book on the story of Kodak).

Personally, I don't mind and I think it's a good thing that they should be promoting their products and business to the people who use the most film stock.

Film is the vinyl record of photography.

I did read a bit further into that link--another article by the same woman about Tarantino et. al.  In which she states that Kodak is the only company still making film.  Good ol' American journalism: I guess Orwo doesn't exist.

On the subject of cheating, Sony's payout to the studios not to release on HD DVD (Panasonic's alternative to Blue-ray) means all ethical bets are off!

Keep in mind, recent improvements to Ektar and Portra are supposed to have come from Kodak movie film stocks. I don't think the consumer market is big enough to fund and warrant extensive product development and research. Portra has always been good, but now is a stomping good, versatile and robust film! Ektar is not bad either, when the light is right.
