Volkswagens

These were taken back in June but my life has been crazy for the past month!

There is an informal "rally" run by a local VW club, I decided to show up and take some photos with my K.W. Pilot 6 before the start.

My old SAAB is not a VW, but a few folks there found it very interesting. I liked this old 1300 in the foreground.

What were Volkswagen thinking when they made this thing?

It was gently raining which added some visual interest to the photos. I'd rather see cars getting rained on instead of wiped with a diaper.

1967 Beetle.

Type II flatbed. I liked the opening windshield.

This VW had one of those "accessory" stop lights that were sold for Model Ts and As back before brake lights were mandatory. It also has some pre-1962 tail lights, which are slightly incorrect for nerds like me.

Unforunately I had to run to work before the rally started so I didn't get any action shots.

Great images, Flippy! That Pilot renders colours like a champ.

yes, it lends a great character to the exposure too. nice sharpness and interesting blur if you ask me.

anyway, thanks for the inspiration! I went out today after looking at these and found myself a beetle of my own to shoot.

PS. I wouldn't mind seeing more shots of that SAAB of yours. it's a classic you don't even see here much :) (ie. where I'm at, sweden)

Some lovely shots there. I had a 1969 1300 for about 15 years and it was a wonderful car--sold only when the number of children rose to three!
Now we have a darn 7 seater Renault, still dream of an Oval/Split Beetle...
There's more to this photography thing than meets the eye.

The black-red lady beetle is amazing. I got a 16 years rundown one when I was a student. I had no money to preserve the car, so it rusted happily, but ran and ran and ran.... sigh ....

I haven't scanned many images of it.

The Pilot 6 has become one of my favorite cameras, at least when the subject is sitting still. It has just enough adjustability to be useful in most usual lighting conditions, but still has a sort of toyish quality to it.

Really nice! It sounds odd, but I'm glad it was raining. I really like the beaded water on the cars for whatever reason.

I really like the rain too, I wish I had brought my close up lens to get some good shots of droplets.
