ILFORD ILFOTEC HC
« on: July 30, 2015, 02:49:18 AM »
Anybody have any experience with Ilfotec HC I just ordered some through B&H because I'm about to run out of ADOX Rodinal. I did a search here  and didn't really find anything on this developer. Almost $46, and not too many reviews on the B&H website.  It just arrived today, I just might finish the last drops that I have of rodinal before I open up this one.
Take me back to the 80's please !!! I don't  like this time ..

When I got back into developing my own film that's the developer I started with.
You mix the developer 1 + 3 with water, so from a 1 litre bottle you get four litres of stock. That's diluted further to make the usable developer.

What i used to do was just make up a small bottle of stock for use, and only make up more stock once the small bottle had run low.

It took me a few years to get through it and the concentrate just didn't go off at all.

The fact sheet is pretty neat. http://www.ilfordphoto.com/Webfiles/2011427105392231.pdf

Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it.

One more question if I mix it 1+31 after I get a working solution  is that going to be a one-shot. That's what I'm after I just want to use it once so I can have consistency. I'm so used to my  Rodinal.

Yeah, that's a one shot, that's how I always used it.

Its a very good developer, similar to HC110 I used to love it at higher dilutions-a good developer.
There's more to this photography thing than meets the eye.

Can it be used without diluting it and making a working solution ? Meaning can I just use it straight out of the bottle with a syringe and mixing it with water and then using it as a one-shot?

It probably can as it's what I always do with HC-110. The only thing is I don't know the correct ratios.
