We went to the Olympic Park earlier in the year to visit the velodrome, I've been meaning to go back for some time to shoot some of the amazing buildings and I wondered if anyone else fancied coming along?

I was thinking about either Sunday 16th or 30th November. I'd really like some half-decent weather to make the best of the architecture so I'll probably call it off if it's tipping down and pick another date.

The Olympic Park is easy to get to by train and tube, there are a large selection of places to eat and get coffee at the adjacent Stratford shopping centre.

Let me know if you're interested and which date suits?

Hi Nigel, this place is just down the track from where I live (45 mins) and I've only ever visited the adjacent Westfield shopping centre (to supervise Lara, of course) so count me in.

Date-wise, just let me know when it's arranged and I'll do my best to fit in. It'd be a good day out to shoot a mini-project for the "one month, one camera" thread.

Everytime I drive through the Blackwall tunnel and past the park I say to myself "I must get my ass in gear and shoot there" so I'm in if you make it on the 30th I'm sure I've got work on the 16th but I'll confirm for definite tommorrow.

Ah! things are never staightforward when I'm involved!
Work on the 15/16th been postponed till (yep you guessed it) the 29th and 30th. If you want to keep it on the 30th I'll catch up with you another time!

Lara and I might have a friend with us (Justin) who is a very keen photographer. Not 100% sure he can make it yet but we're hoping he can.

Dunno what time we'll be meeting yet. We're hoping for a reasonably early start to make the most of the light in the short winter months....

I'll be tubing from West London, around Heathrow so shouldn't be too bad.

That's a pity Gary - could you not just make the morning?
So what time are we thinking of starting guys, it looks as though it'll be overcast all day so no stunning sunrise shots but at least no rain (according to BBC weather).
I hate public transport but it looks the best option to get there, the best meeting place Stratford Int or Stratford station I would guess? Then comes the more important camera choices, Oh decisions decisions!

Gary, it's a shame you can't make it, if you can come along in the morning please do.

I'm easy about the time, I don't mind getting you early if there's something to see but the weather doesn't look too promising. As you say dry but overcast.

There a couple of places in the park we could get lunch. The park is huge so we may want to go to one area in the morning, get some lunch, then do a bit more in the afternoon. I'm easy really, I enjoy meeting other FW's as much as the shooting.

I'd prefer to meet up as soon after 09:00 as possible. Lara and I have season tickets as we commute to Liverpool Street weekdays. therefore, we'll be coming into Stratford from the east Anglian line (crappy, over-priced service permitting).

How about meeting up at EAT, grab a cup of tea and a bun and take it from there?

Well, the Olympic Park proved to be an interesting and very large space. It's still a building site and will probably be so for a year or two yet. The weather was mild and damp with a touch of mist in the air. Not ideal but I thik we've probably got some interesting stuff. Now to get it processed....

Anyway, here's a quick digisnap of irv_b, kenny and Nigel having a cuppa in one of the cafes on site - just to prove we all made it. Great bunch of guys. Lara and I really enjoyed meeting them and hope to do so again at other FW get togethers....

I had a nightmare weekend only got to shoot 3 shots at the most one of my dogs had sickness and diarrhoea at 3 am so Saturday was a disaster I found out mother in law had given him left over spag bol

It was nice to meet up with Paul, Lara and Kenny so thanks to Nigel for making the arrangements.
As Paul said the weather was not ideal but hopefully we all got something out of the day, even if it was only good chat and a lunch out (apart from Nigel's coffee!)
