Hi all,

thinking of trying this: http://rockaloid.com/Tintype-kit-authentic

Any one used it or if you're in the UK know anywhere that sells it? Can only find it online from the US so far.

any thoughts appreciated,

I was considering this some time ago, but couldn't find a seller in Europe either. As far as I know it cannot be shipped from US due to restrictions for the export of chemicals.

Haven't tried it myself, but I did buy one for a photographer friend who was interested in making tintypes. He couldn't get it to work properly, but I'm not sure why. He's since gone on to become quite proficient in wet-plate collodion tintypes.

This guy posted some instructions for self made dry plate tintypes on Flickr. Might also be interesting. The result looks quite good.

shipping costs are high, but they ship fast and silver nitrate is cheap i bought plates and most of the chemicals needed.
