Topic: Which CMS for "portfolio" site

Hi guys (& gals),

firstly, I have to admit that I am a complete "llama" when it comes to most things IT... I have this website thing that I have build a year or so ago on Wordpress and some free template.. And practically didn't touch it since, apart from adding a few new images now and then.
Now, it seems that because I have neglected to upgrade the wordpress thing it has gone mad and I cannot log into the administration any more and only the provider support managed somehow to make it still appear to the public.
Therefore I need to re-build the whole thing.

Now, my question is, what is the simplest and the most care-free CMS that I could use? I neither need nor want anything fancy, just a simple way to put up a few jpegs and maybe a few words to it. Any ideas?

Despite your neg feelings about Wordpress I really think it is the way to go. Especially the new templates are very "magazine like" in layout. If it has been a while and the other site is a mess you may wish to start from scratch. Wordpress recently auto updates, i believe.

Well, to be honest, I wouldn't say that I have particularly negative feelings about WPress.. It's just that since I will be starting from scratch I amcurious about alternatives..

I am not familiar with joomla (I have heard good things about it) but I am familiar with Drupal and Wordpress. Drupal is great but I would only use it if Wordpress could not give you what you want. It is (as the link francois provided points out) more 'industrial strength'.

I've heard good things about SquareSpace. It looks pretty flexible, but I haven't tried it myself. Maybe I will.

Ya u may not even need your own cms. A hosting site of some sort could suffice.

Depends how much you want to get under the hood if it I guess, or just rely on out the box. If you dont want to do too much, WordPress will have most options I think down to its popularity.and amount of add-ons like pro photo. I use umbraco at work which is very flexible. I've built WordPress sites which is straightforward, although upgrading plugins fan be a pain... You could just go down the build ut yourself route if feeling adventurous. Just use bootstrap css and off you go. Good luck...

There's always Pixelpost. It's a very simple system to use but more limited in a way.
