I need stuff in your junk drawer!
« on: December 28, 2013, 09:16:23 PM »
Well, I'm looking for something special and I'm hoping somebody's got it in the junk drawer.

I'm building a special filter adapter and I need a 39mm filter as a spacer. UV or Skylight would be fine. Though if it's colored or has damaged glass, I'll just take the filter part out and keep the ring (that's what I really need).

All help is welcome.

Just bringing this back to the top in case someone has the part I'm looking for.

As said earlier, the filter doesn't need to look good, it just needs to screw in properly.

No problem Phil. That is a bit part of the problem. Camcorder lenses are usually too small and most camera filters are too big.
39mm usually fits on Leicas, but I don't want to pay Leica prices for something I plan to modify!

Hi Francois. Not knowing what your contraption is I don't know if this would work but you can get 39-42 adapters for a song on eBay. I am always mystified that you can get this crap bought and mailed to u for less than if I tried to mail one across town! ;-) http://bit.ly/KtxTWI - for$1.36 incl shipping you could even get a step up and a step down for pivoted change if you need to wind up with 39mm.

If all else fails. You can get 39mm filters for $10 with shipping.
http://bit.ly/Ktyo36 - I would doubt many Lieca owners would use that filter haha but obviously fine for your destructive uses. :-)

Have you been to the local second hand camera shop? Normally they will have a junk drawer or $2 rummage box where all the oddballs end up. Cheap off brand 39mm filters are a good candidate for this.

The problem is we don't have any second hand camera stores left in the region  :(
