Holga Film-roll foam replacement?
« on: June 20, 2007, 10:38:48 PM »
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue, but the foam that's in a newer Holga to keep the film spools locked in position between 'windings' comes loose on my two cameras. Has anybody come up with a clever way of replacing the crappy foam with something that actually stays in place?
(It happens usually during hot humid days, and it's the reason I shoot a roll through the camera and open it in a changing bag these days. I'd like to be able to change rolls in the field).

Thanks,

Hey Astro,

the 'loop' side? Sorry, I'm a (like it was said in the movie 'Grumpy Old Men') dumb fricken Swede. I don't know what the 'loop' side is. I have been able to figure out what velcro is, however...

Thanks for helping out,

Velcro has a loop part, and a hook part.

The loop part is made up of soft tiny loops, and the hook part is stiffer and hooky.  :)

When you press them together they stick.

Think of teeny fish hooks caught in felt.  You know what felt is right?  :)

PM me your address and I'll drop some in the mail to you.
I have leftovers from a Holga mod I did some time ago.

Hey,
that explanation does indeed help the Scandihoovian out. I appreciate your patience.
No need to send any in the mail, although I do appreciate your offer. I have a sewing supply store just around the corner.

Worked like a charm, I might add. I put it on the plastic (what else?) back of the camera, and used gaffer's tape to help the metal clips hold it to the camera body. Nice tension on the film, and it rolled up nice and tight!
Thank you for the tip.
