This is one of the worst summers for photography!

When there's a nice day where you could want to go out, it's so unbearably hot that you'd rather stay inside!

Today, the temperature inside my van indicated 127°F/53°C... that's melt the emulsion clean off the film hot!

Pfew... I had to get this off my chest!

That's nothing, for my town is not unusual to come to your car after work
and find it so hot that the temperature inside nears 70°C!

Hot and extremely humid here. It's a typical Florida thing. Too hot to walk around and shoot.

Thing is that I'm in Canada, not a southern country!

The weather network says that the last time it was this warm was in 1975. Not a common thing for me.

Hot weather in the UK is occasional and unpredictable. We're having a mini heat-wave at the moment (32 Celsius in London today) and it's starting to bug me - to the point that all I want to do is get home (an hour + on the sweatbox express), get a shower and sit in front of a fan with a cool beer or glass of vino in my hand.

This time last year, we were in Marrakesh where it was 43-52 degrees Celsius at 1pm every day and we were happily taking photos of this and that - but in loose clothes and we could stop and get water / sit in the shade / be pestered to buggery by the irritating locals. Moroccan street vendors and unofficial guides are such a joy to deal with - especially in searing heat.....

I know what you mean

. It's so bright, even early in the morning, too bright for me anyway. On the sunny 16 rule some days are f32! But I'm not complaining, the last 6 summers were so bad I had forgotten what hot sunny weather was like.

I'm off to Taunton, Somerset at the weekend to watch some cricket on Sunday, and I can't wait.

Hi Francois.

During the day, yes. However, being at the foot of the Atlas mountains, clouds would often build in the early evening and the humidity could be very sapping after about 7pm - when the temperature had plummeted to a frosty 28 Celsius or so

Thanks LD. There used to be a cider sold in Plymouth called 'Cripple Cock'. It was a scrumpy and came in what looked like recycled 5 litre windscreen wash plastic bottles. It was cloudy, as is traditional and several pints would smash your brains out. We used to get 'Inch's' traditional cider, but I haven't seen that for years. The clear, fizzy and weaker cider seems to prevail. My DNA is Lancastrian so cider isn't my natural tipple, but I did sink several gallons of it when I was younger

...but not all in one session.

Shooting in the heat doesn't phase me at all. Before I moved to Chicago, I used to love being out in the middle of nowhere at 120F, hot desert wind and cameras. Main problem I have here is that it's cloudy at least half the time, which makes shooting Polaroid film difficult.

Right now in Chicago, though, it's been in the 90s and humid, and I currently have no air conditioning!

I've been going out shooting at five o'clock in the morning--some magic-hour light and though the humidity is very high, the temps are in the cool 70s!

For the second nite in a row my wife and I have ended the day be hitting the local patio to split a pitcher of cool beer, so I guys don't know what you are complaining about ;-p

And it has been a great summer for shooting, in my books. My "beach cameras" are taking lots of shots and accumulating new grit in their mechanisms (as the should). The days are long and the haze of summer is a different kind of light that I love. Four short months from now is will be a dark, shitty November, and then I will (briefly) complain (until winter fully arrives).

Nine years ago I bought one of those silver reflector sheets to stick on the car windshield to keep the sun off the steering wheel. Using it for the first time now.

We've had a spell og 10 days with no rain, and temperatures just above 20C. Completely unprecendented. This year, as last year and most years lately has been cold and very wet. My children have wet suits to go bathing.

Yep, too hot me for me in the dark room too, usually a nice constant 20 degrees yesterday, 28. Had trouble getting the chemicals down to temp, bit too sticky for me. However sunrise shooting has been beautiful in the woods and the best bit no b*****y insects. Got both arms gnawed the other evening it was.....itchy.

I felt my skin cooking last night when I was out in the sun. It was terrible. I agree though, the evenings are really nice. Just wish I could enjoy them rather than being cooped up working

I'm staying away from near instant sunburn...

And yes, mosquitoes are a pain. They're so big this year that two hold you down while the third one beats you up!

We've had weeks where it's rained every day, and when we're not being deluged it's hot and humid. But that's not what makes getting out to shoot tough for me. What I seem to lack is time. Specifically, long stretches of time alone that I can use to get out, explore and shoot.

I think I'm going to order a camera raincoat on eBay...
I found some cheap at one of my favorite Chinese shops for cheap filters, adapters and stuff...
It may take three weeks to come but I'll be ready to brave the weather when rain comes again!

I have friends in Riyadh were it's truly scorchio - it's their hottest Ramadan for twenty years or more: my friend had his shoes nicked whilst at prayers and got burnt skin as he nipped back to his car in bare feet. Hope the fellow who took them gets his just rewards.

It's been very hot and humid here in the Garden State as well. With all the rain we were getting mixed with the warmth, at least the gardens are doing very well! Took a trip to Philly last Sunday and it felt hotter in the vacant building I was in than it was outside. Mosquitos have been very bad this year as well, prob because of all the rain.

I'm not a morning person by nature, but 5 AM in the summer is often at the edge of perfect, especially in places like the desert.

The climate is definitely going bunkers!
Temperatures dropped a bit last night as we had some severe weather. Tornado warning, 90km/h wind, lots of rain, lots of thunder. The storm lasted for something like four to five hours! And in the forecast, cooler tomorrow with nights dropping to 5° in the northern part of the province! crazy...

But at least, I won't be cooking my biscuits to go out shooting.

Heat hater here also. Moved from Chicago to western Washington to get away from heat. Even then, no darkroom work in my little apartment bathroom until dead of winter. Leave all the windows open in the cold and wet and get the place as cool as I can. Even better if there is a gale blowing through the place.

As soon as it's shorts and tee shirt weather, 45F, then I can go out and not sweat too much.

its been so hot and humid here that sitting into the car to go shooting

shot on the weekend. Was a little toasty but with lots of water it was bearable. Definitely better than the week.
