Beach locations around Cromer?
« on: July 12, 2013, 09:05:58 PM »
Bit short notice I know but I'm off to Cromer for a few days on Sunday. Have been before so know the general area but looking for suggestions for beaches that would be good for some (possibly early morning) landscapes. Not really looking for rusting hulks, more the beach huts and sand dunes sort of shots (just look at Nick's stuff and you'll see what I mean).

Anyone? Nick?

Peter

The beaches around Cromer are a mixture of sand and shingle.

There are beach huts at Cromer and the pier, of course, and more huts at Sheringham.

Just westwards there are cliffs at Weybourne,

then more shingle up to Blakeney Point, then salt marshes from Cley.

Sandy beaches start at Stiffkey,

but the place for dunes and beach huts is Wells-Next-The-Sea.

The beach at Holkham is famous for its enormous scale,

and going further west, Brancaster and Holme and Old Hunstanton offer variations on the same theme.

Hope this is of some help.

That's brilliant Nick. Could be an arty tour guide book.

Peter just south of Cromer is Overstrand probably my favourite beach in Norfolk.
Rock pools, cliffs falling into the sea..
I have a few photo's, not on the interweb though...
Here is one:

Part of Overstrand is sandy, the other part looks like this
Enjoy your holiday/trip

There's more to this photography thing than meets the eye.

Nicks pretty much covered it.

I would Throw in West Runton to Sheringham for rocks, cliffs, groynes galore and very worn sea defences.

Morston for a few boats and more Marshes, Cley for a shingle beach that goes for miles a few boats a couple of nice galleries and a windmill.

Blakeney already been mentioned, nice long walk to the beach at Cley through the Marshes.

Then Wells for the beach huts and Holkham for the Dunes asNick mentioned, huge expanse of sand, dunes and the Pine forest is worth a walk through too.

Heading East Of Cromer, Happisburgh light house worth a look.

Hope you have a great holiday and if you want to meet up just Pm me.

Well I managed to get to West Runton beach for 4am on Monday in plenty of time for sun-up. Will hopefully have something ready to post in this weekend's thread. Thanks again for the suggestions. Pity I didn't have more time.
