He's a bit crackers isn't he?
Made Eggleston just look a bit eccentric.

Could have done with seeing more of his work

Thoroughly enjoyed the documentary - watched it twice. I had a look at some web shots of bits of his early colour work and they are beautiful. Slightly bonkers or not, I wish I had a fraction of his "eye" for a shot.

I don't think he appeared eccentic at all he appeared individual and unique as opposed to ordinary
ordinary is good but unique is not uncool !

Only just caught up with my sky recordings. Really enjoyed this! A great artist, what a life.

Concerned however the lodger thinks that I am gona be just like that when I get old! I hoard apparently. I don't see it, just retain stuff that may come in handy at some point. That's just being pragmatic. IMHO.

It's on the BBC iplayer. The embed link thing is beyond me I'm afraid but the URL is below, hopefully of some help. Definately worth a watch, I think he mellows slightly towards the end!

Yes, he has passed away. Here is his obit from the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/28/arts/saul-leiter-photographer-with-a-palette-for-new-york-dies-at-89.html?_r=0

I had tried, several times, earlier this year to get him to speak in our B&H Event Space, but no luck. He's actually the second old timer that I tried to get to speak who has passed away recently.
