It is this Sunday - which is also Mother's Day, so slightly difficult to wangle - I'm aiming to get there early doors and get any old darkroom bargains that are out there.

Would love to but I'm driving up to Manchester at silly o'clock on Monday for a 3 day audit stint and need to sort stuff beforehand.

As Leon said, there's always Photographica - which is being held on 19th May this year. There's usually a good FW turnout and a bit of beer consumed at the Jugged Hare....

From what I've seen through the podcasts, photographica IS the place to go for oddities and overall nice stuff.

Going back to real photography - that's what I like to hear.

"Real photographers do it in the dark" - do you think we should get some car stickers made up? (In a PoMo, ironic way of course)

Let us know how you get on with the fair - if it's any good, maybe it can be a FW annual catch-up.  Do come to photographica though, as much for the social reasons than for anything else.  I'd be interested in your comments on the aroma of the Brighton fair attendees ... the average Photographica punter usually carries his (I say His - they are nearly always men) own atmosphere with a general fustiness and a lack of deodorant/ regular laundry-activities on the nose.

Nope, but everybody I've ever met who went there talk about either smell or salmonella

must admit one of my memories of india is indeed the smell... might sound like a cliche but the moment the plane doors open you get hit with an amazing blast of hot air and this lovely sweet spice smell......very memorable indeed.

Nothing to report on the salmonella front though.... thankfully.

How did you get on at the camera fair? And good swag to be had?

a bit cruddy to be honest, lots of bargain 35mm cameras, a few MF cameras, no dark room stuff at all

I didn't buy a beautiful french 19C studio camera, with 9 plates and a brass lens, but I did get a bargain Harrison Rectilinear (1880s ~ ) which should be a good portrait length on 4x5
