I got my first toy camera yesterday - a lovely wee Holga (from Randy Smith at holgamods).

And it is just gorgeous. I was sat drooling over the thing last night with a few ales (birthday present!).

Is this a slippery slope?

Did ya cry? I didn't my first time...oh, oops, well good for you! I'm not going to even look at Randy's stuff...I'm already knee deep in gunk. Have fun with your newly acquired Holga and treat her with TLC, like most girls should be...I did say most.

I just shot my first roll in my lunchbreak. I liked the 'click' of the shutter

Once you go black (plastic) you'll never go back! You begin to eventually "see" things krappily as a residual effect of toy cameras...and that ain't no bad thing.

Toy cameras really stepped up my interest in photography - it felt like a new vision.

what I like is that they're so easy to modify

sometimes I make cameras from scratch....but ripping up a Holga is so much easier when most of the work is already done for you. The only real limitation that I have to stick with 6x6 format...but since that's the biggest I can do on my enlarger, it ain't a major crisis

I love the smell of drilled plastic in the morning

I've just scanned my first few Holga images and I'm grinning from ear to ear.

I'll get them into the darkroom this weekend to see some proper prints (got a few 16X12 sheets left over):

Dave it just shows you can have all the kit in the world but if you've not got an eye for a photo than its wasted - as you show here a £15 camera in the right hands = stunning images!

Cripes, these are good...real good...the details in each one are awesome. Did you shoot them without the mask? I put mine back in for the first time and dug the results. I'd fancy a Woca, but that is just wishful thinking. I hope you've got more stashed...remarkable work. Ilford HP5, yes?

Thanks for the comments. It is Ilford HP5 developed in Rodinal (1+25 for 5 mins).

Beck - It came with a 6X6 mask already in place so I just left it in. I'm assuming thats why I didn't get any light leaks (which was a suprise!)

The holga sure has me fired-up and keen! Pity I'm stuck at my desk at work (there is always lunchtime though).
