Baby's 1st E6 Colour Slides
« on: October 26, 2012, 03:34:02 AM »
Im happy to glot, that last night i successfully developed my very 1st EVER, 120 roll of Fuji Colour Slide Film. I used the Tetenal Colortec E6 kit, which was relatively simple to mix and use and pretty good value for money. $64AUD for 12 rolls ($5.30 per roll)

I fumbled the end of the roll, because i was so excited ot get it into the tank(thats why it look so shit on the left of the image)

But all up i was amazed, me and my future wife were staring at the colours going 'wooooow' for sometime.

Fantastic!  It's an exhilarating feeling unrolling a reel of self developed color!

When I think how many kids will never get the chance to look at a slide in their life.
Colors and resolution sure beats the latest LCD display...

wow~ always a sensation looking at a bunch of slides, holding them up to the light. but developing them yourself?? that would be like magic~ :)
did you have a hard time with the temperature?

superb!
Your results look great and thanks for sharing...I've been thinking of doing this, but just haven't worked up the nerve.

Now maybe I'll be brave and jump!

Thanks! 8)

The whole process wasnt too over the top. I had all the fhems in a sink full of 40c water. And i rehearsed it before hand thinking it would be difficult. But yeah awesome results.

There's nothing like the satisfaction of seeing an E6 image in all it's glory as soon as you pull it out of the tank (though they can be a bit dulll before they've dried off). I started with E6 processing then switched to C41; it's not really economical to keep two lots of chemicals on the go unless you have a really high throughput because there is a danger that the chemicals will expire before you have used them up.

I've used the Tetenal C41 kits for the last few years, and on the whole had great results.
I keep meaning to try E6 some time. Admittedly I might just leave it until next spring!

The chems can have a surprisingly long lifespan. Much longer than what is written on the label.
One of our members (Al) pushed the life of C-41 for a very long time. And since the negs are scanned, exact color balance is not as important as when doing some RA-4
