Expired Film?
« on: October 19, 2012, 10:29:20 AM »
I know it's usable, but in my case I have no clue how expired it is. I believe it is this stuff:

http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-Versatility-Speed-GT-24-rolls/dp/B0017ODXRU

Except my canister looks a little more outdated.. Do you think it would be fine to shoot? I'm not worried about wonky colors, but I just want to make sure it's usable. I don't think it was stored anywhere hot, but it wasn't refrigerated.

Thanks!

I have used a cupel of those - came with a camera I bought and had been stored in room temp. for at least a decade. Shot it at iso 400 and developed at the local drug store as it was a shot at iso 800 - results where just fine. Perhaps a little grainy, but totally usable.
Not scanned it yet though.

Scanning fixes most problems with color films, so don't worry about that.
I've used only expired film for quite some time and it does still work just fine after quite some time. It's not like a jar of yogurt after the best before date went by :)

I always overexpose the very outdated stuff to some degree or another.
