another home built pinhole
« on: September 20, 2012, 08:51:18 PM »
My husband and I spent last weekend building this pinhole camera.

We built it from scratch out of scrap pieces of wood laying around the shed and fitted it as we went along based on a 4 x 5 film back.
I think it's pretty spiffy!
I finished it with 4 coats of tung oil.
And a photo made with it....my chems were a little too warm so the contrast is kinda over cooked.

That looks an awful lot like the one that was in Fine Woodworking magazine!

Very nice and simple. Just how I like things these days.

Seriously!?!?
I wish I had seen that, it would have saved us a lot of time I bet!
Maybe I can find the back issue?
I'd love to see it.

Bravo! That looks lovely. If you can do one in cherry wood that would be great...it will go with my dining table. Can you send it over to me by next weekend? Thanks.

 ;) :D

Thanks all!
My woodworking experience is average, but we have a table saw, chop saw and router.
I'm scared witless of the router, so my husband helps out with that.

I highly recommend building your own pinholes, it is such a rewarding experience and you get to make photos and waste film!!!    8)

Ed- I'll see what I can do.....  ;)

Sell a few of these on eBay Beck, will keep you stocked in film for awhile! Good stuff :)

I always loved working with a router. Probably one of the safest tools around. But it needs a steady hand and I strongly recommend using some sort of guide to do nice precise cuts.
