Another Share the Love set!
« on: September 04, 2012, 11:09:24 PM »
Yep, I finally had time to use the very sweet Coronet Twelve-20 that Miles sent me on the share the love thread.
Now, that is a lovely piece of British box-making!
Apart from the green filter which doesn't seem to do much, it is very fun to use.
I got some shots in the country and some at an old-timey artisan faire.
Here are the few shots I scanned. Sorry for the extra grain as I've been trying new scanning techniques...

very nice! I really like the little barns and would actually like to see the silos up close...
Interesting that when I googled the camera, the link went to a site with another silo shot and barns on it..

Very cool!

You just gotta love box cameras like that, they are just so nice to hold!

Top !

Glad it's getting an outing, I use the Ansco I got from Diane all the time.  That Coronet takes 620 too so it's a good re-spooler if you need one too.

You're right about the filter.

The only think too bad about it is that it isn't held with screws... I would have tried to change the green filter for a red one :)

Interesting that when I googled the camera, the link went to a site with another silo shot and barns on it..
I think it's because of one of this camera's idiosyncrasies, it only works with barns and silos ;)

Francois,
I'm not familiar with the insides of your Coronet, but you might be able to rig something up like I did for my Kodak Six-20.
I just taped some orange (I use B/W in my camera) filter gel over the opening of the film spool holder inside the camera like the photo below shows.
The gel is taped with black fabric tape and this is the side nearest the lens.

Would something like this solve your camera filter issue?

That would work. It's just that it's awkward to remove the gel mid roll...
Thing is that the Coronet is an odd bit of engineering. Instead of changing the aperture using an aperture disk for when it's sunny, they decided to use a somewhat dark green filter... which has faded during the 60 odd years that went by since it was manufactured.

But I do have a few filter swatch books... and it's given me an idea for my Holga...
