The week is ending...
« on: August 03, 2012, 08:46:37 AM »
I took a day off today, so oficially, it's weekend here :) And what would be a weekend without photos..

I don't feel well enough to go out wasting film today, but there may be at least some paper-wasting in the darkroom during the weekend. What I have here are shots from last two weekends, printed this week.

All taken on walks with the children with my "new" Mamiya 645E on various films - Fomapan 200, Acros, FP4+, I don't remember and am too lazy to go down to the darkroom to check (I was finishing my "randomized stock"), then printed using Moersch chemistry on Fomatone paper.
Website of sorts, as well as ipernity thing.

Sorry you're not feeling well today, Andrej, but I'm glad you used the time wisely and uploaded some gorgeous scans to FW  :)

I'm off down to Cornwall tonight, so this will be my last weekend thread for 2-3 weeks although I'll be checking in to see what the rest of you rustle up. Anyway, here's something which some of you will have seen on Fickle already, but I like how it came out so it gets included in the weekend thread. My daughter finally co-operated with me for the first time in several years and actually stayed still while I rattled of a 1/8 sec exposure on the Bronny. Expired Polaroid 125i as usual. I like the colour palette; the late evening sun was streaming through the window; it was warm and orange.

BTW, the first person who says 'painterly' gets expelled from FW   :D ;D

Happy Friday Everyone.

Andrej: The contrast of those landscape shots are wonderful. Love the vintage tones.
Ed: Brilliant portrait indeed. Wonderful softness.
jojonas: Great Bronica shots. I love the tone in 160NC!

Haven't been contributing on the weekend thread for a while, here're a couple of Harman Titan picture taken in London in July:

Andrej- that first photo is brilliant!  Perfect start to the weekend.
Ed- that's a stunner of Amy.  She's beautiful and you have frozen a precious moment of time with her.
Diane- cool way to display those postcards!
Jojonas- I love that cat!
Kenny- nice to see you posting again!  Don't stay away so long!
Hooks- you are the reason I bought my Gakkenflex, and this photo ( and the series on your site) are very compelling and really give a good feel of the community and way of life there.  Love them all!

Enjoy those well deserved weeks off. I'd really love to go on vacation for a few days but the wrecking crew is going to be here on Wednesday to take care of the flooded basement... it's about time something gets done!

BTW, that picture isn't painterly, it's just expressionistic in an autochrome-ish way  :P

a solargraph from me...this one was set out at summer solstice but I had to terminate it yesterday after noticing that a raven had pecked out the center pinhole making the hole way too big so I guess it's a collaboration of sorts!

I kinda like it though...

My favourites so far - Ed's portrait (love the colours and spontaneity) and the solargraph (must try one of these).

Here are a couple of shots from my recent trip to (my hometown of) Cambridge. Taken with a Rolleiflex Xenotar 2.8E on Ilford Delta 400 developed in Xtol 1:1 and scanned. My girls both bought rings from the street vendor.

Ed,
That portrait is magnificent.  (Painterly and magnificent...)  Well worth the wait!

I've been working on some flower shots for a friend who's just opened up a shop.  A lot of trial-and-error but I like this one best so far...

It's Portra 160NC in the Pentacon Six.  Playing with extension rings and DoF until I got a combination I liked.  This was half a second at f/16

Lovely set out of prints to start the thread Andrej.

From me, another from my recent trip to North Yorkshire.  I'm generally hopeless at taking photos of people/family - too much time spent fiddling with focus, aperture, exposure......and the moment is gone.  On this occasion everything fell into place as I happily composed a landscape shot, my wife and daughter stepped into view.

Happy weekend all.

Always impressed by the work here - really lovely image making going on. Here's a couple more dramatic shots to change the mood - from a day on the water following J-Class yachts (1930's/replica 140ft racing yachts) on the Solent. Taken with my Fuji GA645i, Neopan 400 and Prescysol EF.

Andrej - the second shot of the hills and the clouds is so cool. Love the cyan.
Sandeha - that second beach shot is magic. So much to look at, so much going on.

I finally got a film scanner, and a for $12 no less! Scanning my film is a revelation. There's so much resolution!!! The lab scans I've had to resort to so far pale in comparison. I'm quite giddy!

I shot these with some drug store 200 35mm last fall through an antique plastic Clix Feather-Weight, heavily modified with electric tape.

Love the J Class yachts.

Andrea - lovely shot.

A multiple exposure using Xpro'd Orwo UT18 and a holga.  Shot in Malta. The only shot from 2 rolls that wasn't covered in black spots.

Feeling pretty swell that I have managed to process film two weekends in a row, here are two from a fairly recent roll of try-x run through my Rolleiflex and developed in Rodinal.

Just a few more rolls in the backlog...

A great weekend thread, as usual. I love Terry's still life and Miller's "Bolt" wall shot - but hard to choose favourites from such a fantastic and diverse set of photos.

We got back from Marrakesh last night. I had the film processed today and have been slaving over a hot Epson to get some idea what they look like.

These are a few from a day trip we made to Essauoira. It was blissfully cool compared to the 46 degree + temperatures we suffered in Marrakesh. Rolleiflex 3.5t and Portra 160.

Honda S800...

Indeed it is! A Honda S800M Coupe to be precise. Built in late 1969, sold new in Birmingham in 1970, it is on it's way back to the factory where it was made... One day anyway! Thanks! Skj.
