somehow I missed this when it came out last year...but it's an interesting collection of film cameras to have.....

I have a couple on the list, the K1000, N80, and my hubby has the 645.   :)

........and if they're going to put the Canon EOS 1N on the list, the Nikon F5 has to be there as it's got just about the best and most accurate meter ever put on a film camera. Then there's the F2AS, FM2n, F3HP..... ;D

I'm not sure what criteria they're working to but you could make a case for lots of top notch film cameras as they're still available in great condition and at reasonable prices - or better if you strike lucky.

I've got Hasselblad 500c and 500c/m and a GR1s off that list. I've also had a Bronica SQ-B - which is a great piece of kit if anyone ever intends to get one. The PS series of lenses are unbelievably sharp edge to edge even wide open.

This sort of list is never really meant to be objectively accurate - it's just to get people posting about it.

I got a GS645S a few months ago - similar to the GA645 but without AF, which I'm not keen on anyway - and it's one of my favourite cameras. Fantastic lens, feels wonderful, and the only thing it needs batteries for is to run the lightmeter. Excellent general-purpose shooter, as long as you don't want to change the film too often of course. I don't see enough love for the series on the net quite frankly.

I have none of them either...
But I'm not sad for all that!
I think they forgot to include at least an instant camera on the list.

How funny, no Coronet !

Silly list anyway, no TLR or half frame.

SLR heavy too.

Late D - Do you prefer Nikon to Canon then, and Rush to The Stinky Toys ?

One writer's opinion. Worth as much as we paid for it. There are just lots of bargains out there, Olympus OM-1 is a personal favorite of mine and I'm sure if you asked members on this forum they would each come up with their own list, some of which would overlap each other. I just picked up a Sears KS500 (rebadged Ricoh KR5) with a 50 f2 for $5...with working meter batteries and fully functional. Call it my coffee and donut camera because that little indulgence cost about the same. Cripes, a roll of Tri-X is almost $5!

So many film cameras, so little time.

I agree about the TLR - a Mamiya C220/330 would be a great addition.

I have no opinion about "The Stinky Toys" as I haven't heard them play. I know their name, though - weren't they a French punk band? Actually, I played in a pub punk band for a couple of years until we eventually became semi-proficient with our instruments (oooer....) and started to play heavier, rockier stuff. I like a lot of punk music but I've always had serious "prog" leanings..........I never was one to be fashionable  ::)

I thought the list was fun, good that Pop photo is saying any film camera is worth buying. Of course there a gaps in their list, and the inclusion of the Cosina F10 (sorry Nikon) instead of the F or F2 is strange.

The major omission is the worlds greatest ever camera the Rolleiflex F

but shhhhsh don't tell anyone how great they are! it will give me time to buy them all before everyone finds out... ;D

I agree with you about this list being pretty poor. Why all the SLRs yet no TLR. What about rangefinders and folding cameras.

Why include a Leica R when they were not that well thought of when they were new. Weren't they just Minoltas underneath that skin?
