The weekend is coming...
« on: April 18, 2012, 05:22:36 PM »
The sun is shining and the beach tempted me - but not before I snook down to see The Crofter playing with Lucy the Land Rover. I was playing with my FrankPinHole camera with Acros100.

I've been busy modifying my Holgas. My 6x6 Holga is now modified to shoot 35mm film and my 120 PWC pinhole Holga is equipped with a smaller pinhole I bought from Germany.

I can't wait to try them out during the weekend.

Lovely shots especially the 3rd.  I shall spend this week end processing some of the 50 odd rolls I shot during my recent trip to Mexico.  I can smell the fumes now.

no new shots - but took some old diana negatives into the darkroom yesterday..... The 1st shot is 6x6 from one of the very few times I used the Diana +. No "16" mask used either and so it looks exactly the same as a Holga shot to me and not a Diana....

One thing Lomo can't reproduce is a 50 year old plastic lens !

A Few Long exposures with a 6 stop ND filter and Velvia down by the LA river last week.  A bunch were way underexposed, I didn't realize how much I would have to compensate for reciprocity failure, but I got a few shots I like okay :)

My first B&W darkroom print in about 18+months... I finally got the London Hackspace darkroom going (after about 2 months) and had my first printing session with a friend on Monday.

Okay it's not stunning. I couldn't find the multigrade filters that got donated with the rest of the darkroom kit so it's a little flat and it's just a wall of an old weekly market but, hey, A PRINT! :) It's been over a decade since I've properly shared a darkroom with anyone and it was a laugh. Different to working on your own but fun.

Also this week, I made a pinhole camera! Or rather, I finished making one yesterday that I started making probably 4+ years ago. I had gotten all the hard parts done but never got around to doing the final parts and the pinhole itself. It's got a few kinks to be worked out before World Pinhole Camera Day but I think it might just work...

heres a couple of expired sensia 200 shots on my trip 35. I rarely get slide film processed E6, I almost always cross process it, but this was a £5 process paid roll as it was expired so I thought I may as wel.

Another strong start to the weekend. My faves, so far.....

- Andrea. A gorgeous set but love the 3rd one.
- Gregor. Absolutely love your first shot.
- Phil - WOW. What a fantastic neon purple reflection. The colours are stunning.
- Randy. Great colours but really hypnotised by the swirl in the centre of the second shot.
- Sean. Such a great blue cast to that pola.
- Sandeha. Delicate scene and such a delicate colour palette to match.
- Heather. Nice work so far. The second one (with the skull) is surreal..!!
- Thom. Cute lamb and such punchy colours.

Just one from me (so far) this week. I've been digging through some old negatives and found one that was scanned for me before I had a scanner - but I was never really happy with the quality of the scan. So, I've given it a go myself. Taken outside the west door to St Paul's Cathedral in London early one winter morning. Crouched down low, focused on the foreground cobbles and just waiting for someone to step into the light. Leica M6, Voigtlander 28mm/f1.9 Ultron, Kodak Tri-X. Cropped vertical section through the negative.

Yay! So many cool shots,

Phil that seems like an advertisement! A cool advertisement  ;)
Sean, that´s quite an atmosphere you got there, fantastic, that place was made for expired Polaroid film.
Late developer, that´s such a great cropping, it just works
Thom, that´s a cool shot  ;D

Last weekend I celebrated coptic easter, so four days weekend, I went to Istambul in Turkey, amazing city with tons of Tourists! Overwhelming, brought with me the Polaroid 195 and Rolleiflex, and I made a record of low number of shots for sure, 5 Polaroids in 4 days, not bad  ;D

Favourites so far are Andrea's third, Phil's neon, Ian & Lamb by Thom, and Carlos' portraits.

Two from me - first, a local church (Rolleicord Vb/Rollei Retro 80S/Rodinal); second, a chapel in Hay-on-Wye from an Easter trip to the Brecon Beacons (Rolleicord Vb/TMax400/Finol).

Some really delicious shots on here this weekend.....

I love rpmdrd's blurred legs and feet as well as steven's sloppy snaps.

One final one from me. Another one originally scanned as a tiny jpeg by the processing lab but I've dusted it off and done my own TIFF version then processed it via CS3 (levels, slight crop and sharpened a bit).
Taken outside Tat Modern using a Leica M6, Voigtlander 28mm/f1.9 and Kodak Tri-X

Really varied pictures this week, very enjoyable to take a look at on a wet Saturday in Ottawa!
This was taken at Fort Shirley in Dominica, the fort was apparently abandoned in the 1850's and some of the cannons were left behind. Taken on Delta 100 in a Bronica RF645, 65mm lens.  Negative scan.

A few from my "new" 250, found three days ago on local ads. I did not plan on getting one, but you know how it works... :)

Exposure/focus test shots around the house with fp-3000b, and a fascist tomb at the local cemetery with fp-100c silk. The inscription reads something like "give your blood to your homecountry".

good shots everyone, like the porters one and windys tree a lot, but as always countless good ones...

slight hijack - great to see snuff pop up here, saw them or one of their reicarnations back in the day, and off to see NOFX in bristol in June, are they supporting them there?

Bizarrely, Blink 182 are playing at the eden project in cornwall this summer, hopefully they'll play some of the cheshire cat / dude ranch era (before they lost it a little)...

sorry, slight punk detour there.

They did lose it a little. I saw them back in like 2001 or 2002 and i wasnt too stoked on them then only because they were starting their downward spiral.

pop punk was just a gateway into real punk for me. Eased the burden and my parents seemed less shocked. Ive sinced drifted away from it though. Started listening to really dirty electro about 5 or 6 years ago and its blowing up so theres more to listen to these days.

From what little I've seen of Blnk 182 (and the rest of the bands described using the term "punk") on stations like Kerrang and Scuzz, they remind me of "The Monkees". For those unfamiliar, "The Monkees" was a manufactured band playing tunes written by the likes of Neil Diamond (I can't imagine Sex Pistols or Skids doing that without a seriously big tongue in cheek) and trying desperately to be The Beatles but always coming up well short......

Like Francois, I never imagined they ever had an edge but I'll check out the discography and see what turns up.

Never heard of Blnk182.  But I do like  The Damned, The Stranglers, UK Subs, Stiff Little Fingers, The Dickies (who could forget Stukas over Disneyland), X Ray Specs, The Rezillos, The Buzzcocks, The Adverts & Sham 69 plus a few more.  The Dead Kennnedys for starters.  Not forgetting Siouxsie & the Banshees.

On the photo side Mr Peter R's riverside shot is simply beautiful.  Mr Windy's offering is another favourite.
