Here Lies
« on: April 20, 2012, 04:51:12 PM »
Here's part of a series I've been working on for quite awhile.  To read about it in depth you can view this PDF:

I also submitted this series to the Oskar Barnack 2012 Award - I won't win but it's a good excercise ;-)

This part of the series was taken last fall in Warsaw. Enjoy!

They're great!

I really like cemeteries,  and this one seems to be beautiful... very well captured!

Really nice set, Gregor. Churches and graveyards fascinate me in terms of the variation between the lavish and the simple, the pristine and the derelict. Black and white is, IMO, the only choice for this type of subject as it emphasises the sombreness perfectly.

Hope you get a creditable mention even if you don't win. Fingers crossed for you.......

I like graveyards too, is this set shot in the old Jewish cemetery, the one that was damaged in the war?
If so they are a human document too, as I'll guess all of the stones date from before 1939- kind of makes that place a memorial.
