amazing - and they all look like real people.  So often old pics like this have a falseness to them, something I can't quite describe adequately, but something out of the ordinary.

These people look like anyone else, but in different clothes. Really great, and superb quality too.

very nice depth in these shots~

btw, I found three packs of kodachrome sheets in my darkroom. expired 1990, one being kodachrome plus.
are these usable for anything? I could atleast make a pinhole camera for them and try developing in rodinal?

Those are simply stunning.

Isn't it stupifyingly frustrating that emulsions that could produce such beautiful end results were available 70 years ago but not today? I know these days we have Provia, Velvia and Ektachrome and that they are all great in their own way but Kodachrome was king.

I have a great book at home called Kodachrome: The American Invention of Our World, 1943-1957 which is worth tracking down. Decent history of the film and some excellent images....although I must say that a lot of the ones online via Shorpy are as good.

It isn't often I get wowed by a series of images but these are exceptional and as Leon has already said they could have been taken yesterday. Thanks for posting!

amazing images and so so 'fresh' looking when you see the first few you question 'are the new' has the absolute wow factor for me - very worthwhile to have a look

they are just incredible. such amazing time and effort clearly taken on them. as a few people have mentioned, I simply can't believe these shots are that old. could be a load of naughties 20 somethings in costume posing in museums!

Yeah i was struck by how "real" the people look. No fake vintage tinting like you see in films, etc. Honest skin tones and hairs out of place and all. People still look about the same! Something that most retro styling in film doesn't get...it tries to hard too pinpoint the style, often, rather than making things look natural as they do here, even when they are posed as in many of the shots.

I noticed the link to Shorpy site and spent literally hours there.  Can't get enough of it.
